Icono and REM win the SIMO Innova award for a Future Classroom VR Simulator

A step forward in education planning with virtual reality
Mission accomplished! ICONO, a company specialising in the digital transformation of schools, has received the SIMO Innova award from the SIMO Education and Technology Fair in Madrid. The award recognises its new Future Classroom VR Simulator, developed by technology company REM Experience, as an innovative solution for designing and planning the new learning spaces that schools need to create.
The Future Classroom VR Simulator lets teachers, heads of studies and head teachers experience and configure, in an immersive way, the so-called Future Classrooms launched by regional education departments together with Spain's National Institute of Educational Technologies and Teacher Training, and adapt them to their students' learning needs.
Using virtual reality, teaching teams can explore a dynamic environment and choose the furniture and technology hardware needed to create Future Classrooms, which include devices such as recording sets, 3D printers or virtual reality headsets. The tool helps teachers understand how to build these elements into the timetable to strengthen students' creative, technological and innovation skills.
Educational innovation and sustainability
ICONO's CEO, Pedro Pons, says: “With the Future Classroom VR Simulator, ICONO adds a tool that combines practicality and sustainability so teachers can plan learning more effectively and in line with the needs of the 21st century.”
REM Experience's CEO, Andreu Florit, adds: “We worked with ICONO to develop a solution that not only innovates but also simplifies classroom planning and encourages new teaching methods. This recognition motivates us to keep creating solutions that transform education.”

A revolutionary tool for the classrooms of the future
The Future Classroom VR Simulator includes innovative features, such as a realistic, intuitive design for setting up virtual classrooms in specific themed areas:
- Interact, to encourage collaboration and discussion.
- Develop, focused on planning and creating projects.
- Create, for handling and shaping new ideas.
- Explore, a space for research and discovery.
- Present, ideal for sharing and communicating learning.
- Investigate, focused on analysis and questioning.
Impact and future outlook
Besides its educational function, the VR Simulator has a positive impact on sustainability, reducing the use of physical resources such as paper or plastic and minimising waste in the sector. This commitment to digitisation and sustainability reinforces ICONO and REM Experience's dedication to responsible, environmentally friendly education.
With its launch planned for January 2025, the Future Classroom VR Simulator is set to become a benchmark for schools looking to meet the challenges of digital transformation, integrating advanced technologies that improve the learning experience for new generations.
