REM takes a step forward in automotive innovation with AutoStartup

REM Experience has joined AutoStartup 2025, an innovation programme run by the La Rioja Automotive Cluster that connects start-ups with industrial companies in the automotive sector.

The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by digitisation, automation and sustainability. In this context, REM Experience took part in the 2025 edition of AutoStartup La Rioja, one of Spain's leading platforms for collaboration between technology start-ups and industrial companies in the automotive sector, contributing digital innovation, immersive experiences, augmented reality and technology applied to the automotive industry.

AutoStartup is not just a competition; it is an open industrial innovation ecosystem. Organised by the La Rioja Automotive Cluster, the programme aims to strengthen the link between traditional industry and new technologies through direct collaboration between industrial companies and start-ups. This collaboration allows start-ups to develop tailored proposals to improve efficiency and sustainability and to offer real solutions to the sector's production and logistics challenges.

PARTICIPATING AUTOMOTIVE COMPANIES

Our participation in AutoStartup 2025 reinforces our commitment to digital transformation and underlines the key role of technology start-ups as agents of change in strategic sectors. During the competition, the REM Experience team learned first-hand about the challenges facing six automotive companies that have been strengthening the sector for years with their experience and specialisation.

A clear example of this evolution is Nidec Minster Corporation, whose Spanish division is known as Arisa, which grew from a blacksmith's workshop into a network of seven facilities around the world and has established itself as a strategic partner for press shops serving metal-forming manufacturers, with a presence in more than 90 countries. Alongside this growth story is Cooper Standard Automotive, whose experience, built since 1936, makes it a key supplier of vehicle systems and components, providing high-performance solutions to the industry.

This ecosystem also has room for a commitment to sustainability, one of the cornerstones of CMP Automotive, which specialises in anti-vibration systems, sealing systems and plastic coatings and combines technical know-how with environmental responsibility. In La Rioja, Elastorsa has evolved while staying true to its roots since 1967, diversifying its production of rubber compounds and extruded seals for an increasingly demanding international market. In the same spirit of adaptability and customer focus is EMKA Sealing Systems, which makes rubber seals and profiles —and other materials when needed— at its plants in Spain and England, delivering tailored solutions. Rounding off this group of specialists, Standard Profil brings experience dating back to 1977 as a leader in sealing systems, with operations in eleven countries and a clearly global outlook. All these companies represent not only industrial strength but also an example of how specialisation and joint innovation are shaping the future of the automotive industry.

At REM Experience we have taken on board the specific needs of each of them, and we will present innovative proposals based on our expertise in immersive technologies, virtual and augmented reality, simulation systems and interactive environments.

“The immersive technologies and AI we work with are transforming the automotive industry. We create solutions that save costs, make teams more efficient and even improve safety in the workplace. AutoStartup gives us the opportunity to bring all these solutions, and other bespoke ones, to the sector's leading companies nationwide, so it is a highly valuable initiative for the industry,” says our CEO, Andreu Florit.

REM SOLUTIONS FOR INDUSTRY BASED ON VR TRAINING

Among the solutions REM Experience offers industry, 3D simulators and virtual reality training for industrial operators stand out. With this immersive training, workers can practise key tasks in a virtual environment that closely mimics their real workstations. This lets them learn by doing without putting production or safety at risk, and helps reduce errors, shorten training time and collect data on each person's progress. We have already used simulators like these in sectors such as automotive, marine and technical inspection, always with good results.

REMOTE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

We also integrate a remote technical support system, designed to solve problems quickly and effectively from anywhere. Through an augmented reality video call, an expert technician can guide the operator step by step, pointing directly on their screen to what needs to be done. Everything is logged: what failed, how it was fixed and who fixed it. This builds a very useful incident history, which can later be used to apply machine learning algorithms to anticipate failures and move towards predictive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime and improving efficiency.

ABOUT THE ORGANISER: THE LA RIOJA AUTOMOTIVE CLUSTER

The La Rioja Automotive Cluster, the main organiser of AutoStartup, aims to lead and represent the automotive sector in the region and is also a benchmark for Connected Industry 4.0. To achieve this, the cluster promotes cooperation between companies, technology centres and associations, focusing on innovation, knowledge transfer, continuous improvement of processes and operations, and business development. Through this collaborative strategy it seeks to strengthen the automotive ecosystem, making it more competitive, efficient and future-ready.

Among its most important activities, the cluster promotes research, development and innovation (R&D&I) through collaborative projects that optimise costs and improve business competitiveness. It also acts as a forum for exchange and debate, encouraging collaborative networks and synergies among its members. It drives technological development and digital transformation, especially through Connected Industry 4.0, supports the creation of new companies in the sector and offers specialised training to develop talent. As part of its growth strategy, the cluster also works to internationalise its member companies, helping them enter foreign markets and building global alliances.
